2010-May-London: Mantras At Cecil Sharp House

the cecil sharp house  is a very auspicious venue – it’s the home of the english folk dance and song society and has hosted many amazing events in the 60 years of its existence, but i doubt if it has seen anything quite like the day we shared together on sunday

we began the day with a simple exercise to loosen up the body and prepare us for the chanting to come - shaking the body!...loosening up the joints...becoming fluid...

... breathing together, in synchronicity ...

opening the voice with the sound of the five elements

...and eventually coming to stillness...

and then we were ready to sing...

it may not be english folk dance, but the it sure felt good...!

the sufi dances are great meditations...bringing us to a state of joy

as for me, sometimes i wonder...

..how i got so lucky - surrounded by so many...

... beautiful women...

of all ages and of all shapes and sizes...every one of them a beauty...
maybe i was a galley slave in my last life...

we left england the next day for stockholm...with the ash cloud threatening to close heathrow, we made the decision to go by train to brussels and catch a flight there.
so, 6 am next day, at st. pancras station, we were back on the road
