Deva Premal’s groundbreaking new album, ‘The Inevitable Blossoming of the Heart finds the Grammy-nominated singer/teacher exploring the outer limits of sacred, meditative chant.

The Inevitable Blossoming of the Heart, recorded and produced by Joby Baker, features Baker’s unique self-made 5-string instrument, known as the ‘arbutar’. Honed from the arbutus wood on his ranch in Canada, this mystical instrument which contains his parents’ ashes, played throughout the album, conjures up magical reflections of Deva’s new, jungle homeland of Costa Rica, where the album was recorded.

Beginning the journey with Gaia Ma, honouring Mother Earth, Deva follows with the Buddhist prayer The Three Jewels (Buddham Sharanam) and a heart-to-heart duet with the extraordinary UK singer Nicki Wells, Deva’s voice coach, mentor and friend.

Deva introduces many musicians from across the globe on this collection, and ‘Afepakian’ (Gracias Costa Rica) is a prime example. Composed with Costa Rican musician Daniel Mora (aka Amor Reluciente), it is sung in the ancient language of Maleku, one of Costa Rica’s First Nations.

Alma, a joyful up-tempo celebration and concert favourite composed by Uruguayan singer/composer, Mariana Ingold, features Deva giving reference again to her new home, singing for the first time in the Spanish language.

The Four Immeasurables (Metta Mudita Karuna Upekkha) is inspired by renowned Buddhist teacher Jack Kornfield and honours the qualities of love, compassion, joy, and equanimity.

The Inevitable Blossoming of the Heart is a new, fresh and revitalised journey into mantra, transformation, and divine connection.

This is a new Deva Premal and we invite you to join us in the celebration of this, her 25th album of ‘Inevitable Blossoming’.
This new album sounds fab and anciently modern.“
John Leckie
I swoon when I listen to The Three Jewels. And I am so grateful and delighted that you took the four divine qualities of love, compassion, joy, and peace, and turned them into such a beautiful song.”
Jack Kornfield
Effortless and irresistible.“
